It’s time to have fun exploring roman numerals.

They needed a way to represent these numbers using symbols or groups of symbols.
Roman numerals were developed to solve this problem. They use symbols from our alphabet, but they are written differently than the letters we usually see. Unlike our current numerical system, which is base 10, Roman numerals are base 5. This means that the symbols used to represent numbers correspond with their value and not what digit they represent on a number line.
The most important thing to remember is that V stands for 5 and I stands for 1.
V = 5

M = 1000
