In this chapter-by-chapter video study guide of Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist, students will have access to 19 short videos, all under 4 minutes, that provide a thoughtful summary and analysis of the text.  These videos will aid students in analyzing how complex characters develop over the course of the book by interacting with other characters and advancing the plot and themes.  Students will also be able to determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in the text beyond their literal meaning toward their usefulness in the text’s overall meaning and tone.  Additionally, students will be able to consider how an author chooses to structure the timeline and order of events in the book to create effects like mystery and tension.
