3 Easy Football Skills for Kids: A Step-by-Step Tutorial

In this blog post, we will be discussing three easy football skills that kids can learn and practice to improve their game. These skills include the basic dribble, the stop and turn, and the inside and outside of the foot pass. We will provide step-by-step instructions for each skill, as well as some tips and tricks to help kids master them.

Basic Dribble

  1. Stand with the ball in front of you, about a foot away.
  2. Use the inside of your foot to push the ball forward, keeping it close to your body.
  3. As the ball rolls forward, take a step forward with the same foot.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3, keeping the ball moving smoothly in front of you.

Tips:

  • Keep your eyes on the ball at all times.
  • Use the inside of your foot to control the ball, not the outside.
  • Push the ball forward with a gentle touch, don't kick it.

Stop and Turn

  1. Start by dribbling the ball forward.
  2. When you want to stop, plant your non-kicking foot in front of the ball and push down with your heel.
  3. As you plant your foot, turn your body in the direction you want to go.
  4. Push the ball forward with the inside of your foot in the new direction.

Tips:

  • Keep your weight centered over the ball when you plant your foot.
  • Turn your body quickly and smoothly.
  • Push the ball forward with a firm touch.

Inside and Outside of the Foot Pass

  1. Stand with the ball in front of you, about a foot away.
  2. If you want to pass the ball with the inside of your foot, place your non-kicking foot next to the ball and point your toes outward.
  3. If you want to pass the ball with the outside of your foot, place your non-kicking foot behind the ball and point your toes inward.
  4. Swing your kicking foot back and then forward, striking the ball with the desired part of your foot.

Tips:

  • Keep your eyes on the ball at all times.
  • Use a firm but controlled touch when striking the ball.
  • Follow through with your kicking foot after striking the ball.

By practicing these three basic football skills, kids can improve their ball control, dribbling, and passing abilities. With regular practice, they will be able to take their game to the next level and have more fun playing football.
