AirTag Battery Replacement: A Quick Guide to Keep Tracking

You're using your AirTag to keep track of your keys, luggage, or maybe even your pet hamster's adventures (don't judge!). Suddenly, you get that notification: "AirTag Battery Low." Don't panic! Replacing the battery is a breeze. Here's your quick guide to get back to tracking in a flash.

What You Need:

  • A fresh CR2032 battery: You can usually find these at grocery stores, drugstores, or electronics stores.
  • Your AirTag (of course!): Hopefully, you know where this is... otherwise, you might need its tracking abilities more than a new battery!

How to Replace the Battery:

  1. Find the shiny, silver side of your AirTag. This is the side with the Apple logo.
  2. Press down on the cover and rotate it counterclockwise until you feel it release. You don't need any tools for this – just your fingers!
  3. Remove the old battery. It's time to say goodbye (and maybe recycle it properly).
  4. Insert the new CR2032 battery, making sure the positive (+) side faces up. You should hear a little chime letting you know it's connected.
  5. Align the three tabs on the cover with the three slots on the AirTag.
  6. Press down on the cover and rotate it clockwise until it locks into place.

And that's it! You've successfully replaced your AirTag battery.

A Few Extra Tips:

  • Don't force it! If the cover isn't twisting easily, double-check your alignment.
  • Keep track of your battery's lifespan. AirTags typically last about a year on a single battery, but usage can vary. Your iPhone will give you plenty of warning when it's time for a swap.

Now you're back in the tracking game! Go forth and keep tabs on your valuables (or adventurous hamsters) with confidence.
