We all know how important music can be in the classroom. It is a great mood lifter, memory aid, and is great for physical movement among many other benefits. Sometimes, as teachers, those songs can get really annoying, let's be real. Sometimes we just need a silly song that is just for dancing that actually sounds good. I submit to you, Ink by Koo Koo Kanga Roo. Aside from being about a squid and having application in a unit on aquatic animals, this song is best used as a fun dance song in the classroom. It is a great way to relieve stress before or after a test. Use it to transition between activities. It could also be used at a specific time of day to signify its time to clean up or go home. This song doesn't teach anything complicated. It simply is for dancing and smiling. I think we could all use more of that. Lyrics are below the video.
