Meet the Math Facts – Addition Song

Basic addition and subtraction equations are essential to a solid math foundation. Meet Math Facts 1 through 10. These adorable characters will make learning basic math easy! With these cute friends to help you remember the basics, your student will be able to recall up to 10 + 10 with ease.  This song is a fun way to help kids recall math facts quickly.  

The jazzy song uses the saxophone as the main instrument, making kids of all ages want to dance.  You are introduced to the numbers as fun characters that tell a visual story.  The music video is presented as a treater show.  Each number is an actor, a director (the number 8 dressed as a penguin), and the backgrounds change with the scene.  The song lasts just over 7 mins.

You could use this song as an activity timer.  Where students are to do an activity as long as the song is playing.  It could also be used as a background song.  Something that is on while they do other things.  However you use it in your classroom, this song will reinforce addition math facts to 10 for kids.

Music is a great way to help students learn and retain information.  When we read, we have to process the information visually and through auditory channels.  Music helps us bypass the visual decoding phase, allowing more time for comprehension.  

When students hear a melody or rhythm they enjoy, they will put more effort into learning that song.  This increases focus through intrinsic motivation.  It is important that the information being presented in the song is a review of information already taught.  Educational songs are supplemental learning tools rather than primary instruction. 

Math facts are a key part of learning addition.  Once the foundation of the basic math addition facts are learned, more complex math will be understood with ease.  This math facts song will help with learning addition for kids and be fun for you too!
