Paper Airplane Tournament: Rival 3 vs Firestrike
Get ready for an epic showdown! We’re pitting two classic paper airplane designs against each other in a thrilling tournament: the Rival 3 and the Firestrike. These planes are known for their distance and flight characteristics, making them perfect for a head-to-head competition.
The tournament will be a knockout format, with the winner of each round advancing to the next. We’ll be judging based on the distance each plane travels. The plane that flies the furthest in each round wins!
The Contenders
Rival 3
The Rival 3 is a popular choice for paper airplane enthusiasts. Its simple design and excellent glide make it a strong contender. To make a Rival 3, follow these instructions:
- Fold a standard sheet of paper in half lengthwise.
- Fold the top corners down to the center crease.
- Fold the top flap down again, about a third of the way down the paper.
- Fold the wings back, creating a dihedral angle.
- Adjust the wings to your liking.

Firestrike
The Firestrike is another classic design, known for its speed and agility. Its unique shape gives it a distinctive look and powerful flight. Here’s how to make a Firestrike:
- Fold a standard sheet of paper in half lengthwise.
- Fold the top corners down to the center crease.
- Fold the top flap down again, creating a small triangle.
- Fold the wings back, creating a dihedral angle.
- Fold the back of the plane up, creating a vertical stabilizer.
