Please Please the Bees read by Rashida Jones

Benedict, the bear, lives his life through a specific schedule. After the bees deliver the honey, he has a delicious breakfast of honey toast and honey tea. After practicing his hobbies and running errands, he ends his night the same way he started the day: with a cup of honey tea. Benedict tries to help the bees around their hive when the bees go on strike. “Please Please the Bees” is a sweet story, illustrating how people can learn to coexist and help each other, regardless of their differences.

Author and illustrator Gerald Kelley is known for using watercolor art throughout well-known American children’s books, such as James Bowen’s “Bob the Cat” series and “A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo” by Jill Twiss. “Please Please the Bees” was released in 2017, jumpstarting Kelley’s writing career. It currently holds a rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars on Goodreads and is awarded the 2017 Frances and Wesley Bock Book Award for Children’s Literature.

Narrator Rashida Jones holds many job descriptions, such as an actress, director, writer, and producer. She is well known for her role as Karen Filippelli on “The Office,” as Ann Perkins on “Parks and Recreation,” and starring in “The Muppets.” Her documentary based on her father, “Quincy,” debuted on Netflix in 2018 and won the Grammy Award for Best Music Film in 2019.
