Rainbow Bridge National Monument: A Boating Adventure
Rainbow Bridge National Monument is a natural sandstone arch located in Lake Powell, on the border of Utah and Arizona. It is the largest natural arch in the United States and a popular destination for boaters and hikers. The arch is accessible by boat only, and there are several boat tours available from nearby marinas.
I recently had the opportunity to take a boat tour to Rainbow Bridge National Monument, and it was an amazing experience. The tour began at the Wahweap Marina in Lake Powell. We boarded a large pontoon boat and set off across the lake. The scenery was breathtaking, with towering red rock cliffs and sparkling blue water. The tour guide provided interesting information about the history and geology of the area.
After about an hour and a half, we arrived at the base of Rainbow Bridge. The arch is truly impressive, spanning over 230 feet across and towering over 270 feet above the water. The tour guide explained how the arch was formed over millions of years by erosion. We were able to get up close to the arch and take some amazing photos. We also had the opportunity to swim in the cool waters of Lake Powell.
