The Bad Seed
The Bad Seed was a grumpy little seed. He didn't like Halloween, he didn't like costumes, and he didn't like candy. In fact, he didn't like much of anything. He was just a bad seed.
One Halloween night, the Bad Seed was sitting in his pumpkin patch, feeling miserable. He watched as all the other seeds went out to trick-or-treat, dressed in their spooky costumes. He saw them laughing and having fun, and he felt even more miserable.
"I hate Halloween!" he grumbled. "It's just a bunch of noise and nonsense. I'm going to cancel it!"
The Bad Seed stomped his foot and tried to cancel Halloween. But it didn't work. The other seeds just laughed at him.
"You can't cancel Halloween!" they said. "It's the best night of the year!"
The Bad Seed was furious. He decided to go out and try to scare the other seeds. He put on his scariest costume, a witch's hat and a long black cloak.
"Boo!" he yelled at the other seeds. "I'm going to eat you all!"
But the other seeds weren't scared. They just laughed at him.
"You're not scary!" they said. "You're just a little bad seed!"
The Bad Seed felt even worse now. He was tired of being a bad seed. He wanted to be happy, like all the other seeds.
Just then, he saw a little pumpkin seed dressed as a ghost. She was sitting all alone, looking sad.
"Why are you sad?" the Bad Seed asked her.
"I'm sad because I don't have anyone to trick-or-treat with. Everyone else has their friends, but I'm all alone." she said.
The Bad Seed felt a pang of sympathy for her. He had never thought about how lonely she must feel.
"I'll go trick-or-treating with you!" he said. "We can be friends!"
The little pumpkin seed was so happy. She and the Bad Seed went trick-or-treating together, and they had a lot of fun. The Bad Seed even learned to like Halloween.
From that day on, the Bad Seed wasn't a bad seed anymore. He was a good seed, and he had a new friend. He learned that Halloween was a night for fun and friendship, and he was glad he had learned his lesson.
