Governance models were developed by each Indigenous nation to control their citizens and establish normative behaviors. These models were created to maintain order within the nation and to prevent members of the nation from breaking the established rules. By having a governance model in place, the Indigenous nation was able to keep its citizens in line and ensure that everyone was following the same set of rules.
