In this video, you’ll learn how to help keep your child safe by setting up TikTok parental controls

Before you get started, you’ll need to create your own account. Just head to the App Store or the Google Play Store and download it.

Setting Up Family Pairing

On your teen’s phone, tap Profile, then in the top corner, tap the 3 lines. Tap Settings and privacy.

Scroll down and tap Family Pairing.

Tap Continue, then tap Teen and tap Next. Hold tight for a second.

Now, on your phone, open up your TikTok account and tap Profile, then tap the 3 lines. Scroll down and tap Family Pairing, Tap Continue, then tap Parent.

You’ll now have a QR code on your phone.

Have your child scan your QR code. Your child’s device will ask “Link your account?”

Have them tap Link accounts.

What You Can Manage

Screen Time Management
Here, you can set a daily time limit of how long your child can spend on TikTok. Once they reach the limit, they won’t be able to keep using TikTok unless you give them a passcode.

Restricted Mode

Restricted mode is kind of like a “safe mode.” It limits content that may not be appropriate for some viewers.

Search

You can turn off whether your child has the ability to search for videos on TikTok.

Privacy and safety

Under this section, you can choose whether your child’s account is private or public, and whether their profile will be suggested to other users they may know.

You can also customize who can:
Send direct messages
View your teen’s liked videos
Comment on your teen’s videos
